Special Assistances

The following general conditions of transportation are valid on the flights operated by Meridiana-Eurofly. For flights operated by other Carriers ( Code share Flights ) please consider the relative terms and conditions available on the website of the Airline Company that operates the flight.

Passengers with restricted mobility

Disabled Passengers
In compliance with the provisions of the security standards, Meridiana - Eurofly limits the number of passengers with restricted mobility in its aircrafts. Therefore, whenever a passenger needs assistance on boarding, for going up and down the stairs, for taking place in the aircraft, it is necessary that such exigency be communicated while booking the flight.
Passengers with restricted mobility due to an ongoing clinical condition and women in their last month of pregnancy require a medical certification to be accepted on board. Passengers who need transportation on stretchers should travel with an escort. The transportation with an ambulance to the departing airport must be arranged by the passenger, while Meridiana-Eurofly may arrange the ambulance transportation on arrival. Only one passenger on a stretcher may be carried on the routes operated by MD82 aircrafts, while no stretcher transportation is possible on A319, A320, A330 aircrafts. The number of unaccompanied visually impaired passengers is limited on each flight in accordance with safety regulations. Passengers with special needs should inform the airline at the time of booking though our call center , so that the company may arrange for the necessary assistance. In order to ensure the best service while boarding and disembarking, as well as during the flight, passengers with restricted mobility that need special assistance must check-in at least 90 minutes before the departure of the plane.

Blind passengers
The unaccompanied blind passengers can be accepted in a limited number on each flight, in accordance with the security standards of the Airline. The request of this type of assistance should be made at the time of the reservation and only through our call center in order for the Airline to be able to set up all the necessary arrangements. The guide dog is free of charge and the request for the pet in cabin must be inserted at the time of booking. Moreover, the dog must be leashed and muzzled. Up to two unaccompanied blind passengers are allowed on board Meridiana - Eurofly flights. There are no limits for the transportation of accompanied blind passengers.

Bookings
Passengers with reduced mobility can make a booking, or add a request for special assistance to their booking, by sending an e-mail to webccresp@meridiana.it. The request must include the full names of the passengers, the required flights and flight dates and a telephone number that will be used by our Call Center to reach the passengers who request this service.

Minors travelling alone

Meridiana and Eurofly pay particular attention to the minors travelling on board their flights to guarantee their security and safety.

Required Documents
In order to certify the identity of a 15 year old child, a minor's identity card is required. Such a document is requested especially as certification of the minor's age or in case of travelling within the countries within European Union. The children's ID is provided by the Register of Birth Offices in the City Hall and the parents must present their identity card along with two photos of the minor. Once the parents are given the minor's identity card, they must subscribe a petition to the police station for the relative authorized to travel with the child within the European Union countries. The rules for minors travelling abroad changes according to the national laws.
Passengers should get informed about such regulations by visiting Embassies Consulates or the Police station. The Airline will not take any responsibility in case of their denied boarding for unsuitable or insufficient documentation.

Infants
Young children up to 2 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or by an adult person.
On board Meridiana-Eurofly flights every adult passenger can travel accompanying just one infant (children up to 2 years of age). Therefore, to travel with 2 infants, a second adult is required on board. Infants do not occupy seats since they travel on the lap of the adult that accompanies them and is entitled to l0 kg of baggage allowance. If the infant reaches 2 years of age while travelling (that is, on departure, he was less than 2 years old, on returning, he has already reached the age of 2), it will be necessary to book a seat on the flight from the date of his birthday,. Therefore he will be applied an Infant fare for the outbound trip and a Child fare ( from 2 to 11 years old ) for the inbound trip. Bookings have to be made considering the age of the Infant/Child while travelling. On the intercontinental flights, it is possible to request the baby meal and the baby bassinet, if necessary, by contacting our Call Center in advance.

Unaccompanied minors
- Meridiana and Eurofly accept on board all their flights unaccompanied minors starting from 5 to 13 years of age.

- All minors can travel only if escorted by an 18 year old person who assumes responsibility of the minor. Alternatively, the customer can request the assistance for unaccompanied minors through the Meridiana CallCenter; the cost of the service is 40 Euro for each flight (ticket office fees excluded) and for each unaccompanied minor. This assistance cannot be booked on our website.

- The availability for such assistance is limited on each flight: it is therefore advisable that the reservation be made way in advance. The availability will be indicated at the moment of the booking.

- The transportation of unaccompanied minors will be possible only on direct flights, that is flights with no stops: for instance, this assistance is possible on Cagliari-Parigi, but not on Cagliari-Firenze-Parigi. Moreover, children between the age of and up have the same baggage allowance as the adult.

Boarding procedures:
The Minors will be received by the check-in ground staff: they will be waiting for/ boarding with the ground staff and will be accompanied on board the aircraft where they will be handed to the cabin attendant. Important at the moment of the reservation, the client must communicate the name and contact number (possibly a mobile) of the person that will escorting the minor on departure and of the person who will pick them up on arrival after presentation of an ID. The escort on departure will have to stay at the airport until the take off of the aircraft, in case of flight cancellation. On arrival, the ground staff will take care of the minor until the arrival of the parents or relatives.

Warnings:

- For flights operated by carrier other than Meridiana-Eurofly, the passenger must always check the terms and conditions of the operating carrier.

- No unaccompanied minors are accepted on the flights Roma-Chisinau/Chisinau-Roma.

Overbooking (denied boarding) - flight cancellation - long delay

Meridiana - Eurofly, like every major airline, accepts more reservations than seats available (overbooking) to limit the effects of regularly booked passengers that do not show up at the airport, and to allow other passengers, who would otherwise be unable to travel, to occupy their seat. This practice is carefully monitored and is based on the number of passengers expected to show up for each single flight. Meridiana – Eurofly gives a compensation to those passengers who are unjustifiably denied boarding because of an overbooked flight.
Meridiana - Eurofly informs passengers that in case of denied boarding, flight cancellation or more than 2 hour delay, one may require at the check-in counter or boarding gate the brochure stating the rights relative to compensation and assistance, in accordance to the Regulation (EC) n.261/2004 art. 14 (1).
