Special Assistances and transportation of domestic animals

The following general conditions of carriage have to be considered valid on the flights operated by Meridiana-Eurofly. For flights operated by other Air Carriers ( Codeshare Flights ) please considere the conditions avalaible on the website of the Airline Company that operates the flight.


Passengers with restricted mobility

Disabled passengers
In compliance with the provisions of the security standards, Meridiana - Eurofly limits the number of passengers with restricted mobility in its aircrafts.
Not more more than 2 disabled passengers can be accepted per flight. However, for operational reasons, on certain flights special assistance of any kind cannot be provided. Therefore, in the event a passenger needs assistance to board the aircraft, go down the stairs, or sit on board, the passenger should inform the airline of this condition at the time of booking. Passengers with restricted mobility due to an ongoing clinical condition and women in their last month of pregnancy require a medical certificate to board the plane. Passengers who can only be carried on stretchers should travel with an escort. Transportation in ambulance to the departing airport must be arranged by the passenger, while Meridiana-Eurofly may arrange the ambulance transportation from the arrival site. Only one passenger on a stretcher may be carried in the routes operated by MD82 aircrafts, while in those operated by A319, A320, A330 aircrafts this type of transportation is not allowed. The number of non-accompanied visually impaired persons per flight is limited in accordance with safety regulations. Passengers with special needs should inform the airline at the time of booking, available only by our call center , so that the company may arrange for the necessary assistance. If requested at the time of booking, Certified Service Dogs for the blind travel free of charge, as long as they are provided with muzzle and leash. In order to ensure the best service on boarding and disembarking, as well as during flight, passengers with restricted mobility that need special assistance must check-in at least 90 minutes before the departure of the plane.

Blind passengers
The unaccompanied blind passengers can be accepted in a limited number on each flight, as foreseen by the security standards of the Airline. While making the reservation, available only by our call center , it is necessary to request the assistance as the Airline must be able to set up all the necessary arrangements. The guide dog is free of charge and the request for the pet in cabin must be inserted while making the reservation. Moreover, the dog must be leashed and muzzled. Up to two unaccompanied blind passengers are allowed on board Meridiana - Eurofly flights. There are no limits for the transportation of accompanied blind passengers.

Bookings
Passengers with reduced mobility can make a booking, or add a request for special assistance to their booking, by sending an e-mail to webccresp@meridiana.it. The request must include the full names of the passengers, the required flights and flight dates and a telephone number that will be used by our Call Center to reach the passengers who request this service.

Minors travelling

Meridiana Eurofly take a careful care for minors travelling to guarantee their security and safety.

Documentary requirements
In order to certificate the identity of a 15 year old child, a minor’s identity card is required. Such a document is requested especially as certification of the minor’s age or in case of travelling within the countries of the European Union. The children’s ID is provided by the Register of Birth Offices in the City Hall and the parents must present their identity card and two photos of the minor. Once the parents are given the minor’s identity card, they must subscribe a petition to the police station for the relative authorization to travel with the child within the European Union countries.
The normative for minors abroad travelling changes according on national dispositions. Passengers will have the charge of take updated information in the Embassies or Consulates of the country of destination licensed in Italy.
The Company does not take charge of any cases of denied boarding for unsuitable or insufficient documentation.

Infants
Young children till 2 years old have to be accompanied by a parent or by an adult person. On board of Meridiana Eurofly flights every adult passenger can travel accompanying just one infant ( young child till 2 years old not been over ). To travel with 2 infants it’s necessary an other adult attending. Infants don’t take seats since they travel taken by the adults that accompany them that have a right to a baggage allowance of 10 Kg. If the infant will be over 2 years old during the travel ( for example he leaves being less then 2 years and comes back when he’s over that age), starting from the date of his birthday, it’s necessary book a seat on the return flight. The price adopted will be Infant’s one for the going flight and Children’s one ( from 2 to 11 years old ) for the return flight. Bookings have to be made considering the age of the Infant/Children during the travel.On the intercontinental flights, it’s possible to request baby meal and cradle, if necessary, contacting pre-emptively our Call Center.

Unaccompanied minors
Flying on all Meridiana flights and on the regular national Eurofly ones, it’s possibile to take minors travelling on board without accompaniers ( from 5 already celebrated to 12 years old ). For these kind of passengers we take particular safety measures since children under 12 years of age cannot travel unless they are accompanied by a person who is at least 18 years old and accepts responsibility for the minor. To book this service it’s necessary to contact our Call Center and pay a supplementary cost of 40 Euros for route ( excluding ticketing rights ) for each single not accompained minors travelling. The availability of the service will be confirmed at the moment of the booking process. Children travelling will be received from the ground staff in the check in zone: after this they will waiting for the boarding operations and will be entrusted directly to the on board staff. It’s very important during the booking to provide Identity details and Contact phone number ( possible mobile ) of the adult that accompanies the child at the departure and arrival of the flight. The adult person who attends the child on the departure will wait for the real take off of the airplane in order to taking care of him, in case of flight cancellation. Once the children is arrived to the destination airport, he will be attended again by our ground staff until the arrive of the parents or relative signed up in the booking process. The transport of unaccompanied minors it’s possible only on direct flights without stops over: for example: it’s possible on Cagliari – Paris flight, but it’s not on Cagliari – Florence – Paris. We also inform you that the baggage allowance rate for Children over 2 years old it’s the same of that one adopted for adult passengers.

Attention:
The transport of unaccompanied minors it’s not possible on flights Rome-Chisinau/Chisinau-Rome.

Pregnancy

An airworthiness medical certificate is requested for pregnant women
- if the date of delivery is expected in the 4 weeks following the flight;
- if the pregnancy has had complications;
- in case of an expected multiple birth.

Transportation of domestic animals

Small domestic pets (cats and dogs only) may be carried in the cabin as long as the passenger has the necessary sanitary documentation in accordance to the current legislation.
The animal is under the care of the passenger and should be kept in an appropriate, sturdy, secure and rigid container, with a leak proof floor and openings for adequate ventilation. The container should not exceed the following measurements: 48x33x29 cm.
The weight of the container, pet and food included, should not exceed a total of 10 Kg. In addition, pets should not emanate an offensive smell and must remain in the kennel at all times aboard the aircraft.
In any case, if the pet disturbs other passengers, the Captain has the authority to transfer the pet to the aircraft’s hold. Company regulations stipulate that a maximum of two bags may be taken on board and no more than one per passenger is permitted.

Service is available for transporting animals in the baggage compartment on Meridiana MD80 - MD82 aircraft and Eurofly A330 aircraft. The request must be made at the time the flight is reserved and is subject to confirmation by the company (no more than four bags may be transported in the baggage compartment).

In the unfortunate even that the aircraft is not able to transport an animal in the baggage compartment, and if the call center fails to inform the passenger of this fact within 12 hours of departure, the passenger owning the animal will be entitled to a full refund of the unused portion of the ticket and the cost of transporting the animal in the baggage compartment.

Special baggage prices

Note: online sales (web, call center) or by Travel Agents have discounted prices compared to in airport ones, they are not refundable, but in case of flight change you can use again your already paid extra baggage allowance just contacting back the sales channel used during the purchasing.
