All visitors travelling to Canary Islands require an identity card which allows them to leave the country or hold an individual passport; for under age travellers it is recommended to get in touch with their own town hall, which, depending on the age of the traveller, will issue the appropriate document.

Currency

Local currency is the Euro
Banks are open Monday to Friday from 9am until 2-pm
From October until May banks are open also Saturday from 9am until 1pm.

Language

Official language is Spanish. English, French and German are commonly spoken; thanks to our deep-rooted and well integrated Italian community in various islands, Italian is widely spoken.

Vaccination and Health precautions

Specific health precautions are not required going to Canary Islands
Sanitary agreements between different countries are different and are not standard; before going to Fuerteventura, it’s important to get, from your own National Health Service, the specific form necessary in case of any medical assistance needed.
In order to avoid intestinal disorders, it is highly recommended not to drink water from tap.

Compulsory vaccinations: none.

Pets:

No longer stay than 28days, travellers with dogs and cats are requested to take a pet good health certificate and must have had rabies vaccination. The certificate should be issued not earlier than 5 days before their arrival in Canary Islands and all Spain. Furthermore is requested a rabies vaccination certificate, made at least 1 month before arrival. On the day of their arrival, at the border control, cats and dogs will be checked by a veterinary.
For longer stay (more than 28 days) a specific authorization is required.
